PatriciaSan Antonio, TexasI’m the mother of three children and grandmother to three as well. I had gestational diabetes with my second child and was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 1998. At first I was terrified of needles and did everything I could to avoid injections. I hated the blood, the discomfort, and the stress associated with the shots. That led to poor control of my diabetes. When I was told I needed to inject insulin seven times a day instead of four I thought it was more than I could endure. Lucky for me my nurse knew I was struggling with shots, showed me the i-port® and taught me how to use it. Now I never miss an injection and my diabetes is under much better control. Now, I feel comfortable going out with my friends. I don’t worry about going out to eat like I used to. I don’t feel like my diabetes is ruling my life. I used to be very active; I attended Beauty College and worked in advertising and event coordination. Now I can enjoy my role as wife, mother, and grandmother. The i-port® is the thing that really helps me take my insulin like I’m supposed to. |
