In August 2008, AADE released the results of an injection impact report that surveyed 502 people with insulin-requiring diabetes using injections to manage their condition, and 301 healthcare professionals that treat people with insulin-requiring diabetes, including 101 primary care physicians 100 endocrinologists and 100 diabetes educators.
A third (33%) of patients who treat their diabetes with insulin injections dread the injections.
Fourty-seven percent (47%) of patients who treat their diabetes with insulin injections would be more likely to administer their injections regularly if a product was available that would ease the pain and discomfort of injections.
Eighty-three percent (83%) of patients who treat their diabetes with insulin injections would like to reduce the number of injections they have to give themselves each day.
