I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2001 and promptly decided that I was “going to beat it”. After a couple of years of poor control of my blood sugars, my doctor advised me to begin taking insulin injections. At first, taking injections was a struggle. I could hardly believe that my diabetes had progressed to the point of needing to stick myself with needles every day. After all, I had never been sick in my life. As a matter of fact, I had been a wrestler during high school and college. Determined to be healthy, I began my insulin experience with four injections per day; hoping that I could get my life back to normal with better health. But the injections continued to cause concern. I found them to be difficult, creating tender spots at the injection sites. When I told my doctor that the injections were leaving marks on my body, she prescribed the i-port® . I have found that the i-port® has reduced my dread of multiple daily injections. In addition, my blood sugar control has improved since starting to wear the i-port®. Once again I have been able to resume my favorite activities including acting, movies and spending time with my wife and two children.
